Principles of a Free Society – Very Simple!

September 6, 2010

I couldn't resist putting this up...

There is a web site set up by the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights called The three simple fundamentals laid down on the site are:

A free society requires a limited government
that enacts and enforces objective laws
for the sole purpose of protecting individual rights

Again, there isn’t much more that needs to be said. That’s what’s so odd about all this “public policy” stuff: there really shouldn’t be very much “public policy.” Why do we even have to have college majors in such things? It’s like having a college major in bank robbery. (Insert your own grumble about your personal least-favorite financial major.)

Don’t start with me about how far along we are on that path to Gigantic Bloated Government. We all know that. I just don’t believe we can get along by just “reducing the rate of growth” – let alone trying to actually reduce the size of government for real.

We only need a couple of simple ideas, folks. Enforce the Bill of Rights. That’s number one. Except for protecting us from enemies, foreign and domestic, really, how much of this government do we need?
